So you think the excess pay sounds good?

Well, honestly,......$28 for a live load. Sounds great if they have you in and out in an hour......not so much if it's 4 hours.
    But, I don't know. What's the account?

    Kyle G. Thanks this.

The question is, are you able to make the money you want despite what you have to deal with? In trucking, there's really no paradise of a company. As you gain more experience, it will be imperative for you to develop a bull #### tolerance. It will be necessary so that you have longevity in the industry. Sometimes you just gotta make things work as long as it does what you need for it to do pay wise. Trucking is more so about what the driver puts into than what the company will give you, so the ability to solve problems and make your own calls when necessary will be imperative as well.

In my area Central Transport is the bottom of the bottom of pay and equipment, plus no driver I've talked to at Central near Smyrna, TN says anything positive. Some people in more northern big cities have posted some things positive.

The only way to get that answer is you have to talk to current drivers AT THAT TERMINAL working on the account you would get hired for. You cannot just do an internet search and bet your future on those answers. Sometimes it seems new drivers would rather starve to death than do ANYTHING away from the internet. Make the company put you in contact with current drivers working the account the company wants to hire you for. You won't have an easy life if you leave the important decisions to a roll of the dice. Put in some effort, it's for your future.

The central issue here is...if you change jobs too often (especially early on)...then later potential employers may well rail against you (for that) when you talk to them; to help combat this...be a swiftie...and stay put...for a while. :p :D

it’s up to you, but you’re right, job hopping isn’t going to get you into a better LTL company.
Who did you leave for Central? If I had to choose between Swift and Central, I would stay at Swift.

JB Hunt. I just got tired of not being home everyday & was only bringing home around 700 a week. Honestly if Swift had more local positions I would still be there. This may sound crazy to some, but Swift was the best company I worked for so far. Good equipment & dispatchers. Pay and home time was the only issue.

You're absolutely right. I called my recruiter and she said she would try to get ahold of some drivers who work at that terminal locally. Hopefully I get a answer tonight because I'm supposed to start tomorrow.

Leave Central Transport ASAP. Horrible equipment and not even safe to pull on the road
