I don't think the type of behavior the OP has should be encouaged. I don't see anything wrong with that people have said.

What shouldnt be encouraged? A new driver that made some mistakes and tryed to get a better job only to feel lied to and misleaded trying to warn other new drivers to NOT do what she did? Yes every ding is important but to say unexscusable? Less than 60 days on her own for the 2 that she admits to, and both of them extreamly comon. Sooo, and as for not being attacked? Did you read the thread? Or even the op? Shes being told shes so bad that werner is lucky to see her go and knight is lucky to not have hiered her. And well shes female so use the mirrors exc..exc.. tell ya what if less then 2 months in a a few mistakes make you completly worthless then most of the people here are worthless. Cuz i garuntee just about every driver here has (whether they will admit it or not) made mistakes. Just not as public or as career affecting as most happened before dac exc..exc.. just saying, even if your house is in order your only as good as your last trip. So when that once in carear mistake happens dont come here to vent or talk about becuse there is only perfect drivers here. After all were on the internet so it must be true....

There is a good chance that this is what happened.....But not being there, can't say for sure....
The tail swing can get you in trouble, but I guess they don't teach them that in school...
And if it was just scratches like she said, don't think she would have felt it...

Trying to sue is a waste of time. If it's not in written then it's questionable.

I can promise you every mistake I made I owned. And although I may have said to myself "well at least I didn't kill anybody" I didn't have the attitude of "well dings and scratches happen" either....and that is the problem I see most people having.
As as far as that 3rd preventable. Sure there is no way of knowing what really happened. But as mentioned before the OP had no idea that you need to check and make sure there is no gap under the trailer before backing under and jumping the kingpin. So despite getting out and looking 3 times, who's to say that she has any idea that the trailer actually BACKS UP while making a u turn and could have easily hit that parked truck when she thought she was clear?

I think your misunderstanding her point on dings happen, i think she was trying to explain her thoughts on the differance between a accident and a preventable incedent being treated equely. As for the king pin thing ive done things and said to myself why the #### did you do that?! You know better. In other words #### happens.the swing thing she said her doors were open, soooo no damage to the inside=didnt hit it. (Her words) Ive lost my bonus to a lie that my boss agreed i didnt do but a claim aginst me was enough to lose my bonus, so being blamed for something you didnt do is frustrating.

xcountry,i see that you have many detractors and naysayers. this is a forum for truckers so there you go. my post is that I think that you will find another job if you haven't already but you will have to be steadfast and relentless.

    best of luck.

If getting stuck in mud is considered a preventable, then I guess I have 3 now.

The first was when I crunched a fender while backing my second week as solo. Stupid yellow pole that hid between mirrors when I wasn't looking properly...
The other two were getting caught in mud.

I felt so stupid with the mud that I called, and paid for, the tow trucks to get me out.
No damage to the truck either time.

$300 bucks (each time) out of pocket is worth not having to call the company for assistance, and having another preventable on my record.

And over being stuck in the mud? It (I) was SO stupid!
G.O.A.L. That is all I would have had to do.
If you can jump on it and you sink a little - the truck will sink a LOT more.

    tucker and X-Country Thank this.
