Been with these guys almost a year. Orientation was 2 days. day 1 watch videos, then go over company handbook with safety man. day 2 was Alabama coil certificate and TWIC, then went with a local guy the rest of the day.
48 States AND Canda. NO HAZMAT
They require TWIC and passport(if you can get it) will re-imburse you with recipt.
Dry van and Flat, step, RGN, ETC...
New equipment, I believe ALL company drivers are in a 12 or 13 Prostar now.
All trucks have Maxxforce engine, Eaton auto, and electric APU, governed at 65, will run faster with good fuel milage. My last week I ran 70 all week(on medical leave now, will be back at it in about 3 weeks) They are installing new quailcom's with e-log, but you have the chioce of paper unless you get log violations, then they make you go to e-log
Multi stop pay, tarp pay, layover is determined by dispatch(not clock), pay is book miles with .10 per deim
Home most weekends, if you have to stay out usually get home by Thursday of the next week.
I had to start in van because that is all the experience I had. 90 days in van I ran mostly SE, had 1 trip to Liverpool, NY we have a "regular customer" there. Got layed over for the weekend on that trip due to brakedown, that's another story, averaged 2600-2700 miles a week in van October to January
Switched to flat and have run South East, Mid West, and Alberta, averaged 2600 miled a week in flat from January to June.

I am from the westpoint area and trying to get back into trucking, and am considering Royal. I have several questions but I'll start with this one. How do they treat their drivers do they push them hard like they used to?
How about trainees, would they be considered a "good" starter company for someone trying to come back?
Haven't driven tractor trailor since about 1995.
I used to work for them from jan '94 to jul '94. then quit and when to local straight truck driving jobs. -
Is this the same Royal Trucking hiring in Cleveland. Ohio area?
-
What do they start you out at for a company driver?
-
I wonder about the flatbed division?? at .40 cpm and $15 tarp pay it doesn't sound so good??
-
I worked for Royal for almost 3mos. They promised 3,000 miles a week I barely got 1,700( ×.38 you do the math)
The orientation admin represented the company well but once turned over to dispatch its a different ball game. They dont care about the drivers and nobody in the entire division is on the same page. The communication is terrible . Upper management tell you about a open door policy but will not answer or return your phone call. They did have good equipment and good insuranceOoops Thanks this. -
