You drivers had better wake up and smell the coffee. E-logs are coming for everyone. It's part of the CVS 2010 thing. They want a way to check with out question where you have been and how long it took you. Gone are the days of the outlaw trucker with 2-3 logs running 1000 miles a day. Gone are the days of driving 100 miles and then taking a 2hr coffee break and then jumping back in the truck. Doing 80 mph to try and get where you should be if you where driving like you should have been. It's a new day and a new industry. So get on-board and run with the Big dogs or get back up on the porch with the pups. I've been running it legal for 18 yrs. So it's no big thing for me.

everybody who drives for knight will end up in a halfway house with the e-logs. this company doesn't pay its driver enough money to run in a legitimate manner. i'll gladly leave the trucking industry once and for all after being fired for running far less than legal, and i will gladly drive around in a septic tank truck cleaning port-o-potties for a living. at least with that, i'll be getting paid for all the #### i'd have to deal with, and i'll be able to go home on a nightly basis, and take a nice, long, hot shower for FREE, and without having to wear shower shoes.

They are as prepared as any other company is. Most of them are in for a shock when 75% of the drivers can't do the job as before and they have to reschedule loads. But they will adjust to it.

Are you saying you have never averaged the speed limit or above in all these years? I'm not talking about what the logs say, but actual time and miles.

In order to stay legal as far as average MPH goes, companies will have to turn trucks down below the speed limit to keep speeding violations under control. This is a back door way to get speed limiters without actually mandating it.

I have ran e-logs and loved them, but the company did not look too hard at average speeds. If you got above a certain MPH five times per trip, a message was sent to the office, and usually someone wanted to speak with you.

When I used e-logs I was paid by the hour from the time I swiped my ID card in the reader at the office, until I swiped it when I went home. If we had been by the mile it would have been miserable.

Trucking companies will have very little power to force shippers/receivers, especially mega-companies and union shops, into speeding things up. They will just switch to a carrier that has a terminal in the area or demand more dropped trailers. If enough shipments are late from all carriers, things may slightly improve, but I'm not holding my breath.

Teams may be the norm when this shakes out, as available hours are much less of an issue. I know this is a little off topic, but OBRs are going to be part of this soon enough.
