    Please note this isn’t my company.

    What exactly would happen it a company was running hazmat but didn’t have their Hazmat Safety Permit or the proper insurance ?

    Probably a quick way to end up in lawsuits or jail.

    Probably nothing until something went wrong.

    Id think the bears/scalehouse will find it pretty quickly, they take out the microscope and rubber gloves for placarded loads.

    Feedman and blairandgretchen Thank this.

    Oh, for sure - "Something goes Wrong" is a large, wide, and scary array.

    Try - "Load starts leaking, pulls into scale". Hazmat cleanup is not cheap.

    I should also ask "What class of hazmat?" And in what kind of vessel?

    Oxbow and Feedman Thank this.

    There are many possibilities:
    fines, fees, attorney fees, court costs, and cleanup costs (if any) into the 6 figure range;
    criminal charges;
    civil suits;
    insurance cancellation or substantial rate increase;
    carrier placed OOS;
    carrier audited;
    trucks targeted for frequent DOT inspections;
    loss of business from shippers and brokers;
    maybe even bankruptcy.

    Running Hazmat without proper credentials in place makes for a very very bad day.
    It's one thing you really don't want to cheat on.
    Any company that don't wanna play by the rules risks everything, doesn't respect it's drivers in the slightest, and deserves all they get.
    The downside is way too steep and the upside isn't as big as it seems.
    Getting caught will likely end them as a business.

    tscottme and Crude Truckin' Thank this.

    I would venture the driver of such company is the one who will pay the highest for such lack of integrity
