I think you've got what it takes to drive your own road, Joe, including those to Alaska. The only limitations you would have are those you put on yourself. DY did it. So can you.

Getting ready to make my first run to Alaska. Are there many places to buy DEF on the Alaska Highway? I guess very few sell it at the pumps seeing that most stops, from what I have been told, are cardlocks.

I never followed thru with them..Original guy I dealt with quit. Then the new guy was kinda a smartazz. He just rubbed me wrong. I will look into going to Alaska this summer on a good weather run and see what happens.

There are small gas stations that will have it along the way but you should take some with you because the price for the DEF gets a lot higher the further north you get. The last place I saw it at the pump was on the US side. I didn't see any at the pump in Canada. Doesn't mean that they aren't there, I just never saw any of them. Once you get past Edmonton don't expect to see any at the pump at all.

There are no DEF pumps along the Alaska Highway. Most places in BC charge about $20.00 for the 2.5gal jugs. The CFN in Williams Lake has a DEF pump, but it was hit and miss on them actually working. You can buy DEF at Inland Kenworth during regular business hours in Whitehorse, YT. They sell it out of a tank. Check with Walmart and NAPA stores. NAPA in Anchorage was selling the 2.5gal Peak jugs for $8.99, but I believe the sale is over. Kenworth in Fairbanks and Anchorage sells DEF out of a 55gal drum, but it is about $7.00 a gallon and you have to bring your own KY Jelly. o_O

Pacific Power Group in Anchorage is $11.50 for the 2.5gal jug. That is were I buy my DEF when it is not on sale elsewhere. They are also the Detroit and Western Star shop.

Have fun on the trip and watch out for the critters and specially the tourists.

You must have seen me in Nooksack. I park along that cell tower when I bring cars back that go to Bellingham.

This time of year, the critters are tourists. It's the only time of year I hate driving anything in Alaska. You have never seen so many RVs...
