All produce runs by truck. It would not get here in time by barge. We haul for all the big companies. The only thing they ship by container is the dry goods and other non perishable items. You don't get much time to get produce to Alaska. Friday morning deliveries load Monday evening and Tuesday morning deliveries load Friday evening. You have to run about 700mls a day to get here on time and road and weather conditions are not always on your side. In the last two month I have seen quite a few trucks off the road and on their side.

that must of been cool, I got to help move barnum and baily circus one week and got to haul elephants but didnt get to do the load of tigers, got to haul the elephants from 2 different railyards while helping them move from Anaheim to San Diego. I have pics of the elephants from my truck window as they were passing by to be loaded into the trailers, if I remember I can post a couple tomorrow since I have to reduce the size of them, dang site has a limit and my phone creates images over 3mb

The only produce that I've got off containers is imported stuff like bananas and other tropical fruits. Other than that they are too slow for most produce. They will ship frozen items like frozen broccoli and other freezable vegetables.

Most of my deliveries out of CA were to Walmarts.

No, we have all the same crap, dui, crazy gun laws and a pile of other things that make borders hell to cross.
The only thing that makes being a Canadian worth it is the cuban cigars. LOL

Thank you for posting. It looks like beautiful country. Are the pictures indicative of light traffic? Looks lonesome, but I don't think I would be lonely surrounded by that majestic scenery.

There is not a lot of traffic this time of year. The most traffic that I encounter is around towns or cities or in places were the oil and gas companies are going at it. Sometimes it seems hours before seeing another car or truck and other times you will see a couple in a row. I usually hate coming back to Washington and deal with the I-5 corridor.

Well, I made it back last time and managed to keep the shiny side up and stay between the ditches. Frazier Canyon claimed several trucks the night before and I came by three different clean up efforts from truck wrecks. I hope everybody was able to survive, but two of the wrecks did not look very promising. When they bring out excavators to pick loads and chunks of trucks out of ditches and gullies makes me fear the worst.

Here are two pictures from my way back. I had everything from dry roads and sunshine to blinding snow.

Lately I have been bouncing back empty since there is more freight going North than South. We do haul cars and other stuff back on occasion as well besides fish and other customers' freight.
