We are up in Alaska again.....If you are coming up the Alaska Hiway in the Yukon, be careful after Destruction Bay as the roads are alot worse then they were when we came up in June.

It is work in progress in that area. I am actually in Anchorage right now doing a reset. I lost another trailer tire in the Yukon do to a puncture. I was hoping for a nail, but I can almost stick my finger through the hole. Why is it always the tires that are 50% or better that get ruined?

They messed that road up big time when they paved it. Back in the '70s, it was just gravel and was a marvelous drive. Of course, we had to have those heavy plastic deflectors on the hood to protect the windshield, but it was well worth it...no frost heaves, no repaving every Spring, just re-grade the road and be done with it.

The only thing the chip seal helps with is not having as much wash boarding that you will see with gravel.

A very good friend of mine went of the road last night in BC. He totaled his brand new Western Star 4900. After seeing a picture of the truck he is very lucky to be alive. I feel terrible since I shut my phone off last night so my sleep would not get interrupted and I missed his call. We talk pretty much every day and keep track of each other. I got some updates that he was released from the hospital, but have not talked to him in person.

That's the way luck works. The one time you turn off your phone is the one time you shouldn't have. I'm glad your friend survived well enough.

I have been blessed so far with no tire problems running up here, especially with Super Singles on the trailer. I did get smart after the first run and now carry a spare SS with me. I have been running in state last week and this week before we load up on the 21st going back to the lower 48. Been nice seeing the state and yet having time off to enjoy it a little bit. Went to the State fair in Fairbanks over the weekend and saw my first rodeo!

Does anyone know what frequencies they run in Canada? Just purchased a radio here in Alaska that is preprogrammed with the Alaska frequencies but not the Canadian ones.
