Just beware that the larger the gap, the more air that will get sucked in between truck and trailer and less fuel economy.
How much? Don't know, but it'll be less.

Its really not that much of a gap. I think I'm like...2 teeth from fully forward. I'm just in the most optimal legal position. If I have a light load...I could move it forward if I really wanted to. But I'm in the "Set it and forget it" position for 99% of loads. I mean, I cant even open the reefer doors.

Its not the wind I worry about, even though I'd be empty roaming Florida around the same time. Its other people I worry about.

I got mine set in the same position. Fully fueled and fully loaded, I have 12500 on my steers. But when it's hot outside and the reefer running, all that heat has nowhere to go and it overwhelms the a/c of the apu til I disconnect and open that gap to allow better air flow.

    Saw this on Facebook:

Donald and Hillary go into a bakery in a posh New York town. Hillary swipes three Danishes and puts them in her pocket. Hillary says see Donald I don't always lie , I don't have to say anything to him. Donald says !! That's dishonesty and atrocious Donald says with my charm and my temperament I can get 3 free. Hillary say I want to see this ,,, hands on hips lips protuding. So Donald ask the owner if he can show him a magic trick , owner says sure. He says I can make 3 Danishes disappear so he eats one nothing , he eats two and the owner is unhappy at this point . He eats the third and the owner asked where the hell is the magic??? Donald says look in Hillary pocket.

@crxdc They do have access to restrooms for drivers at Florida Natural in Umatilla, Fl.

Edit 0840: Been here two hours now. How do you not know if it's a live load or drop and hook? I've never been to this Florida Natural, but I'm liking the Lake Whales location better than this one. I've could of done dropped, hooked, and left if this was a Lake Whales load.

Edit 0855: It's a live load. Just bumped the dock. There was a Stevens truck just sitting in front of the dock (just got done being loaded) being trained on how to do the macros and paperwork and probably trying to sneak a break in. Plenty of parking spaces across from the docks to do that ####, I honked the city horn a couple of times (trying to be nice) but the trainer just gave a quick glance and blew me off. Not cool. So, I blew the air horn. That got their attention and the gaurd on the golf cart. They saw the guard coming over and they high tailed it off the property. So, now I'm in the dock to be live loaded.

Edit 1000: The same Stevens truck has returned. Not sure why. They parked in the area in front of the docks. Then moved to the staging area. Then left again 15min later.

Was that your 1st time there?

Sometimes if you get there early, they'll live load you instead. They're pretty quick about it. One of the reasons I don't go in there too early.

One of the "dangers" of doing a drop and hook tho is your never know if you're gonna get a good trailer or not.
