You have to think, he may be the only available truck for that load. It HAS to move. If he grabs it and moves it into traffic for a swap, and it's otd.

I've accepted plenty of impossible loads, but before I do I let them know on QC that it's impossible. And they usually respond that they just need it moving and will work the swap, and if it's late, it's not a service failure on me.

This is for the drivers in the newer Paccars. What kind of mpg are you actually getting, and what speed are you normally driving? I realize of course that there are other factors involved obviously. I've spoken with a couple drivers who made blanket statements about getting 9 mpg at 70. I can't believe anyone who makes these sort of general statements and I'm sure we've all heard drivers exaggerate their mpg numbers. I've also spoken with 2 drivers who said they couldn't get better than 7 mpg. I was just curious is all.

I have a newer paccar in my 2016 kenworth. I get anywhere from between 6.8 and 10 mpg to be honest. I found if I run my truck at 60 mph I get maximum fuel mileage which can vary depending on terrain, weather, wind, etc. I actually got 11.6 with 24000 loaded coming down i80 the other day. Blew my mind. I left Cheyenne, Wyoming and got that for quite awhile until I hit wind and hills further down the road. Then it dropped to 7.9. I've gotten as low as 6.8 on some of the rougher terrain. I did the let's truck app for awhile and was averaging 7.5 over a month due to the extreme highs and lows.

I went up to another one of our drivers that looked he was having a hard time with the reefer. Asked him if he needed help. He said he was trying to put it on continuous mode because the customer required it with a set temp of -10. I told him that the customer can say -10 continuous all they want. It ain't gonna happen. All the reefers are locked at start/stop for anything below +19 degrees. Then pointed out the sign next to the controls that also stated as such. He was glad I walked up because he was about to call breakdown and it was his first time pulling a reefer.
