I thought they were only about 200 pounds per hole? You are probably right, I am basing my info on dry van which has been my specialty for 6 years.

I picked up 44k of bacon in Vernon, Tx. Tandems all the way back with 33500lbs. I was ok, it's only going to Olathe, Ks running overnight, so, I'm good.

The trailer I picked up from Vernon was running good when I hooked it. I get an hour down the road and middle of nowhere Oklahoma and the reefer alarm goes off. I find a wide spot and pull over. The alarm was for low oil level. So, I check the oil level and it's just barely on the dip stick. Good thing I carry two gallons of oil on the truck. It took just over 3 quarts to fill it back up. Which tells me that the previous driver(s) was just clearing the alarm and going. Where was the oil going? I don't know. There was no puddle under the reefer at Tyson. No, oil on the truck. Could've gotten low over time maybe. When I dropped it in Olathe it was still full.

Figures the one time I break routine and try to just hook and go to keep moving as fast as possible it bits me in the ###. But at least it was something stupid simple that didn't require breakdown.

I know they aren't our personal trailers, but ####, at least check the fluid levels. If that would have seized up, that would be 100% driver fault IMO.

I keep oil and coolant for the reefers. There has been many times where a driver just dumped a trailer on me that had the alarm cleared.

Oil is easy enough to add. The coolant is a bit tricky and requires an adapter like the nozzel off a DEF box in order to add it. It doesn't require much coolant, but without a ladder and that adapter it's a ##### adding it.

That just shows many don't do proper pre trips or even post trips...the reefer should be checked just like the truck..some of people..smh

Pfft, I'm not using my oil or coolant. A quick call to breakdown and get the OK to buy some and send in receipt for reimbursement.

And if it is coolant, it's going to the shop. My fat ### ain't trying to climb up and potentially fall 10 feet.

Middle of the the night in the middle of nowhere, yeah, I'm using my oil to keep the reefer running.

I feel the same way about the coolant.
