Does the reefer engine heat up the fuel and send back to the tank what it doesn't need like the tractor does?

It's never a bad idea to have breakdown pay for a jug of anti gel for the refeer. if anything it'll give you piece of mind out on the road.
I idle the tractor at 900 rpms when the temps are at 15 and below. My wallet hates it, but that diesel 911 crap you'll have to buy to get going again if you gel up isn't good for the engine.kanidana and MachoCyclone Thank this. -

That was the kind of thing I was thinking about. Surface area to air ratio. Of course they will both freeze eventually.

Pulled over and my apu started before I stop for the night in about an hour. I had issues with starting the apu last winter and I want to cook my pork chops tonight. Suppose to get down to around 10 degrees in the Denver area tonight. I should be good to not idle tonight.

Got a QC message this morning asking if I could rescue a load from a driver who's truck was broke down, and grab his load and haul it to Michigan for a delivery in the AM. A quick glance at the consignee location (Detroit), delivery time (0800), and distance there (575 miles) at that particular moment...I wasn't going to be able to make OTD. Or at the very least, I would be rolling up to an OTD after running 70mph to get there, and using every bit of my available hours. Of course after I pointed out to JCT I couldn't comfortably make OTD, I got the customary "Well can't you just keep the load moving?" reply.
So my question is this...at what lengths will you go to be a "team player"? IMO, if I'm going to lose money, burn up my hours, and get no offer of additional compensation then 9 times out of 10, I'm going to decline to repower that load. I shouldn't have to explain to the pleading person on the phone why I'm unwilling to rescue their load. Especially when I've been running hard as it is, and have planned out my fueling stops and break locations on my current load so I can keep running without needing a reset. I really do want to help out, and obviously if rescuing a load benefits me and costs me little to no loss of revenue, then yea..I'll help out. In this situation this morning however, that wasn't going be the case...and it left me feeling as if I was the bad guy. And it should be noted, I already rescued a load last week...which cost me a little revenue..and the reward for that favor was this sweet load I'm on now.
Anyhoo...thoughts? Comments? Should I just adopt the position that any load rescuing, my minimum fee is 100 bucks plus whatever load revenue I'll lose by being a team player.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Dang, I've swapped 5 loads in last 2 weeks, keeps me out of the docks. Did good overall on them though.

One thing I don't understand is why teams get an extra $75 for rescuing a load and making OTD but a solo driver don't for doing the same thing.Treputt Thanks this. -
I totally forgot teams got 75 bucks for rescuing a load. And us solo drivers get zilch? That's not acceptable..lol. The kicker with this load they wanted me to rescue...who was going to rescue my load that I currently have? That delivers tomorrow at noon? I ran my behind off, just ahead of the lovely weather from Oregon to Indiana, to make this OTD...why would you trade one failed load for another? I'm sure JCT has their reasons..as do I for turning down the swap.
