It just sucks to see that happen

If they put them in to the trucks for the less experienced, or the ones with a bad track record, that would be understandable.
I don't like cameras in my face because it makes me feel less safe, if we're being honest. My last company got face cams in all their trucks, and I was more focused on making sure my actions didn't set off the camera than I was making sure my actions were safe. Even though I was doing nothing wrong, I was driving for the camera. Any bump I hit, any time the brakes had to be applied a bit firmly, my eyes darted to the camera lights to see if it was enough to set it off. It made me a paranoid driver.
And then there are companies that supply the cameras, showing LIVE video of drivers from other companies at their demonstrations, and the driver has no clue that he's being watched, not only by his company but by others. No lights no nothing. And the companies are proud of that fact.
As I said, as long as they keep them in the new trucks and away from mine, I'll just never upgrade. But if they decide to retrofit, either I'll try to buyout or I'm out. I've been mulling over a decision for somewhere else and it will just make the decision for me.Jarhed1964 and CannonballAA Thank this. -
And the insurance side we won't raise your rate if do such and such.
Also, with more and more companies putting in some kind of camera in their trucks, it was a matter time before JCT jumoef on that band wagon.
While I don't agree it; it is a far less intrusive system than the ones that see the entire cab. -
And not that this matters, but how could anyone drive down the road without looking at the road for 10 seconds. Doesn't even make sense. lol
Seat will be vibrating in the ditch..Jarhed1964, otterinthewater, MachoCyclone and 1 other person Thank this. -
If they want to put cameras in and say they are doing it for safety and to protect the company and the driver, put in outward facing dash cams. I'm 100% for that. I'm sure we all have seen things, multiple things, daily that would justify that. Just don't turn them inward. If a majority of accidents are NOT caused by the truck driver, why put just a camera on them?Jarhed1964, tallinthesaddle4life and MachoCyclone Thank this. -
You don't regularly close your eyes for 10+ seconds while driving, or as I call it "A moving power nap"?
And you call yourself a trucker!Jarhed1964, Treputt, CannonballAA and 1 other person Thank this. -
