So made 2 phone calls to JCT just now. First, to my DM...He knows about the new camera system, and that the plan is to eventually have them installed in all the trucks. As far as when, he wasn't sure and beyond that he didn't have much information about them. It sounded as if the information he knows was gathered here and there, as no solid info has been passed on to him. He suggested that I talk to the safety department. So 2nd call to safety...slightly more information gathered than from my DM. Again, the plan is to install them in all the trucks. JCT has an allotment of 150 camera systems at present time, which the priority is going to brand new trucks and used trucks going to new drivers. Current drivers in older trucks are the last priority right now, and a timeline of 2-3 years to have all JCT trucks installed with these cameras is the plan. I gave this safety person my truck number and got a lol and said my truck would be at least 6 months or more before I'm called in to get the camera installed. One final note, was told that the head safety guru (name rhymes with spawn fallory) is the person spearheading Operation INYOFACE and that he was presently off work and would be back on Tuesday. Was suggested to me that any further complaints, gripes, questions be directed his way.
In a sort of on topic/off the record discussion with the safety representative, I openly stated that I'll never drive a truck with a camera looking at me. It was explained that this camera only triggers on when an event occurs, and JCT would only look at the footage if an accident or other serious incident occurs. JCT knows that there is going to be false alarms, and there isn't any plan to review dozens upon dozens of camera recordings daily just to see why the system trigger. I said I didn't care...lol. NOT GONNA DRIVE A TRUCK WITH A CAMERA LOOKING AT ME. (I said it in all caps too) So we went back and forth in a friendly, civil manner for a few minutes and I suggested that the head safety guru (rhymes with fawn spallory) should take some initiative and try and alleviate driver fears by addressing the ins and outs and pros and cons of Operation INYOFACE before so many JCT drivers are heading for the door, that Consuela the cleaning lady is needed to drive their trucks.
So from this point, that's all I know..and care to know.Jarhed1964, crxdc, Nilao and 5 others Thank this. -
Jarhed1964 and MachoCyclone Thank this.

I still plan to figure out how to safely set off the camera over and over and over...eventually they will stop caring about me, and then the electrical tape comes out...........

you know on the flip side of this if they're putting in the cameras that means the insurance rate should drop which means we should be paying less for the insurance on our trucks...
Anyone want to place a bet that we won't see the savings ourselves?Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
Looks like landstar will get another ex jct driver when the time comes.
