Gotta love the "Billy Big Riggers". Ran into one this morning at C&S in Houston. Kept mouthing (at 4am and way to early for his crap) off to all of the other drivers waiting for doors about how he is basically Gods gift to trucking. Also saying that they better have him done by 8am (only way you have a chance at that is to have a 3am appt and he didn't). And complaining about the heat and how humid it was.

Me and the other drivers tried telling him that he wasn't getting out by 8am and really shouldn't get an attitude with them because they will reject your entire load and kick you off the property. When we finally got doors and went into the warehouse to check in; it got interesting.

I let him check in ahead of me on purpose and wow was it worth it. They marked him late and seal not intact (this is because he didn't take the seal in with him). He started yelling and cussing the guy out. Talking about he ain't late and raising hell about the seal. They clerk kept his cool and explained about needing the seal in order to sign for it and that according to the computers he is a day late. He yelled even more still saying he wasn't late and he better be done by 8am otherwise they wish he never showed up. I said they already do. He storms out to go get the seal.

I go up to check in and the clerks are just shaking their heads. I said me and the other drivers behind me tried telling him but he wouldn't listen. They weren't worried about because they just call down the managers to deal with it and sometimes they have to call the cops to have drivers escorted out, but that was rare.

I get checked in and get the lumper price. I go back in with the check and the angry driver is waiting in line to check with the lumpers. I tell him that he has to pay the lumpers before they will unload and that sets him off again and he's not going to pay for the unload. Two managers come around and pull him off to the side to deal directly with him.

Not sure what they said to him, but three and half hours later I'm done with paperwork in hand and the angry driver is still at the dock. He sees me walking back to my truck and he comes out and tells me that its ######## that I'm done before him and they haven't started unloading him yet. I told him to next time don't get an attitude with the guys that are going to unload you. That's like pissing off the cook that is cooking your food. And I walked away laughing.

It makes no sense to do that.
All it will do is make them make you wait.

When the Load is messed up I just say thank you be polite and nice about it.
Offer my phone number and go back to my truck. Usually being polite will get you in with minimal delay.

Tyson Lexington: we aren't letting drivers check in or leave right now.

Me: *sees trailer by the gate* so close...
