My QC updated earlier today and now it's very different on the logs part. I think maybe my aobrd just became a full fledged eld. Got a fleet wide message saying I couldn't put myself on drive line anymore, only device can do that. I've never tried to manually put myself on drive line before. BTW, this is an Omnitracs unit in a '17 Cascadia. Anyone else see this today?

Anyone else get the Omnitracs update today? I'm not sure, but I think my aobrd just became a true eld. I knew it was coming, but was thinking later this year. The message I got was pretty funny! It stated that we can no longer put ourselves on "drive line", but it can now only happen automatically. Who ever tried to put themselves on "drive line" manually!

What we used to be able to do was motor around off duty, on duty or sleeper for x amount of time at slower speeds and just before you hit the road you would select Drive to 'lock in' the previous off duty, on duty or sleeper status otherwise the unit would backtrack all the way back to when the truck was first driving and make it all look like drive time. I guess that option has now been eliminated.

I would agree, they have updatd the AOBRD to the full ELD mandate which is to be in full force December 18 2019, just looks like they have rolled out the full ELD a little early.

Better to do that early that way any bugs in the update can be worked out before enforcement. All the new trucks ('19 and newer) have the full ELD package already. Took me about a week to get use to the new parameters.

When you first go on PC; it will stay there til you go either on duty or sleeper birth again. There was a few times I had used PC in between loads and forgot about that change and started driving to the next customer. The log department never complained when I called to have it edited.

Under the new rules even the back office cannot change duty statuses.

They still have to allow for editing. Mistakes will be made.

Looks like they can change any duty status so long as they retain the original "mistake". Driver must also certify the edit is correct or it will not be legit.

I think what I was confusing, was that under the new ELD rules, Drive time is drive time and no possible way to convert it to any other duty status, but any other duty status, sleeper changed to on/off duty, on/off duty changed to sleeper, pc changed to on duty driving are allowed.

Can a user edit or change driving time that has been recorded by an ELD to non-driving time??

No. An ELD automatically records all of the time that a CMV is in motion as driving time that cannot be edited or changed to non-driving time.

You can still change your status (sleeper/off duty) and it clears any slow moving around you might have been doing. Tried it yesterday and worked fine.
Better than waiting 5 more minutes anyway. :)

Do we still have that 4 minute cushion? Like driving full speed for 4 minutes would be Drive time but it you are quick about it it you can switch it back to off duty or sleeper and it shows all off duty or sleeper as previously recorded.

Example, stopping at I-40 exit 253 (say late at night because there is no parking at exit 255) for an 8 hour sleeper then getting up and driving to exit 255 for 4 minutes and switching back to sleeper real quick while waiting 15-20 minutes for a fuel pump to open up before switching to on duty/pretrip/fuel thereby saving time.
