That's true. Never assume JCT will automatically pay you for anything extra except original dispatched miles and stops. Always, always, always, ask for your extras.
Some things to ask for:
1. DETENTION (after 4+ hours).
2. DRIVER PAY (getting a trailer repaired that you picked up from a customer or drop yard that another driver left in non D.O.T. compliance).
3. OOR MILES (out of route miles) (any additional miles you put on trip such as going out of way to scale load, returning to shipper to get reworked, miles adjustment because PC MILER short miles takes you onto I-90 or I-70 west of Denver.
4. LAYOVER (being available to work but have no load).
5. ANYTHING ELSE YOU FEEL YOU SHOULD GET COMPENSATED FOR.
It's not that JCT doesn't want to pay you for these things, they just aren't automatic. Cover yourself and ask to ensue you get paid.

I also use the bump the dock macro every time I bump a dock. At the time I bump the dock, not while waiting for a dock. There have been a few occasions I got detention without asking for it. Doesn't happen everytime or often. But I still do it even though other drivers tell me all the time it's not needed.
And according to the contract, the driver gets 60% of the detention that is billed and collected by JCT. If they bill it and customer doesn't pay it, then you don't get it.
It doesnt say nothing about available to work and no load senerios though. But never hurts to ask. -
Guess I'm having a battle of wills with breakdown. Trailer is shorting and blowing fuses for the marker lights, petro has done what they can to find it, and has deferred to a trailer shop here in Joplin. None open. Was willing to go back to Tulsa in the daylight but....now it's dark...ain't about to test DOT through MO and Illinois and Indiana at night with no clearance lights. Or go back through Oklahoma.
-
Looks like I'm stuck here in Joplin. The petro won't run a separate wire to the lights to fix the short because they consider that a fire hazard. Breakdown wasn't authorized to run me back because that was over 100 miles out of route.

Hmmm just got a message saying run it, JCT will pay for tickets on it. Thoughts? Considering its every upper light on the trailer?

JCT paying for fines does nothing for YOUR CSA score.
DADof3, drvrtech77, Kamkor and 1 other person Thank this. -
You have the right to refuse to run non complaint equipment and there's nothing they can say or do to you without breaking harassment laws.
drvrtech77, Kamkor and MachoCyclone Thank this. -
Steel pretty much said it. It's their trailer and are required to maintain that trailer in 100% DOT complaince. You as the driver are not legally required to pull a nonDOT complaint trailer.
DOT does not care that JCT agreed to pay the fines. They will shut you down til it's fixed. And, that goes on your record.
In the end, it's up to you weather you choose to pull it or not. No-one here is going to tell you do something illiegal.drvrtech77, Kamkor and Steel Tiger Thank this. -
Hello everyone.. I just started with JCT and on my first load.. I have a question.. If the mom and pops fuel are cheaper and on the EFS network.. Wouldn't it be cheaper to get fuel from them than the major truck stops??? Just a question.
-
Umm.....no. Its your record.
