Atlanta is not my running area so not real familiar with it's continual flow but over the years I have always done pretty good going in and out of Atlanta for the most part. Usually I will find decent loads popping over to SC or NC and/or up into Midwest area. Not always best paying but definitely doable if your living in the area.

Atruckr , what info and advice can you give a guy like me.
I will be 62 in December and thinking about a career change for the last 4 years before I retire.
I have no CDL but am thinking of getting a CDL and then going with Schneider.
I will have my wife with me as soon as I can have a rider and will be living in Kokomo Indiana 1 hour north of Indianapolis.
Do you think the IC program would be a wise choice ? -
BTW your in a great area for an IC. There are good loads in the area and should you be able to get in and out of the house frequently if you choose.Last edited: Oct 5, 2015

Well, I wwaaas.... taking the wife home via Denver.. Now Via Phoenix.. Plans to run my last 2 loads on a string of 4 I picked earlier got jumbled up with traffic delays and just poor trip planning math error on my part..ughhh!! Didn't have enough time to pick up those loads .. As soon as I recognized the problem I called in to customer support and they were able to find coverage so we had the loads removed.. Started over with my famous Oh ####t last minute find a load scramble
and was still able to fill my week in yesterday running a load from Kansas City to IA on a decent paying load.. Had to DH over 200 miles to get it but it is all good..Now for this new week I already booked up 4 loads the last of which will run us out to Phoenix. Pretty easy stuff. Mostly light weight drop and hook running down to Texas then up to Oky and from there out to AZ..
Business as usual!
Keep the wheels a turning!scythe08 and drvrtech77 Thank this. -

Wow it's been long time since I updated this thread. But heck you know the saying...Better late than never.
I quit Schneider in September 2017. Went back to an office job for about 8 months and realized that just ant gonna work so the search went on. Found a great place i like and even writing about it at.. Running with ShipEX thread I started awhile ago. Running With Shipex
I quit Schneider mainly because i got tired of the whole owner op scramble. Always chasing the money save a bunch then watch it disappear from down time, sucky loads, truck repairs and on and on. I did good while there, made sure of it. Always made my payments on time no incidents etc.. Unfortunately it wasn't enough. Couldn't see a solid future in it for me. Schneider changed a lot too sense i started and it wasn't helping me so i left. No hard feelings it just wasn't the place for me anymore.
Pretty much now i am kinda doing the opposite. I call it easy money. I work hard but it's easy money. Company driver on salery with 50 days a year at home with pay. New fully load equipment etc.. really nice not worry about next load or down time or customer schedule etc.. love it.Opus, stevep1977, 91B20H8 and 1 other person Thank this.
