Perdiem also lowers your contribution to Social Security, it lowers your pay if you are hurt and are on workers comp or disability and with this covid crap sticking around, if the company lays you off, it lowers your unemployment comp.

Wrong. You can claim per diem as an OTR driver. All you need is your logs to prove it. The company keeps 6 months of them or more on hand. Just ask for them to be emailed. You can claim per diem expense for any day you are 50 or more miles from home and don’t make it home that night, and any night you sleep in the truck.
It’s not called “per diem” per say. When you are away from home paying for personal expenses due to your job, there is a provision for it. Y’all worry about trucking. I have my finances handled. I pay a CPA good money to handle all of it.

Are you referring to that 62 dollar a day everyday you are away from home thingy we used to claim as company drivers. If so Trump did away with that year before last. Only folks that can claim it now are O/O. Anyway if you got an acct doing it for you best of luck!!

What smokey12 said. Like I said as a company driver we can't claim it anymore the only way we can get it is through the company if they offer it. Like ShipEX does. I file my own taxes and I know you can't claim it however Trump also up the amount we get back on default expenses from the government. You might want to check with your CPA and see what they are doing.

Ok genius, the tax law changed you cannot claim any expenses as a company driver on your taxes.

Because I’m going to take financial advice from a bunch of mouth breathing truckers LOL I’ll let My CPA handle my financial situation. That’s the end of it. Move along kids.

Yep funny because I was just doing my taxes and tried to get the deduction for per diem just for the heck of it and it is no longer available..it disappeared last year. Yea I had an accountant once ..got audited too..since do them on my own and no problems now for 18 years...

Right that's what happened to me last year. I believe last year was the first year it took affect. We just get a standard deduction now.
