I have Verizon, they just got this info and they have no updates at this time if you own one. They are waving restocking fees though till 9/30.

    [Official Statement] Galaxy Note7

    • Galaxy Note7

Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously.

In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue. To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7. For customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks.

We are working with our carrier partners to announce the details of the U.S. product exchange program as soon as today.

We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause in the market but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. We are working closely with our partners to ensure the replacement experience is as convenient and efficient as possible.

It was posted on engadget a couple of days ago i think. Would have to check the date but it wasn't too long ago.

I'm not understanding the logic behind trading it in for another model of the same. But you have a choice of taking the s7 model instead.

I spoke with a Samsung Agent yesterday about this issue. She said there was a batch of note 7s that had been produced using a battery supplier that used batteries in a poorly maintained quality control environment. So far only 35 cases of phones blowing up and causing fires, injuries, or damage worldwide. But because it's happened in multiple countries they would rather be safe than sorry. Most of the issues were in Asian markets, but there have been a couple off instances in the U.S. and Canada.

This was in a text message from spirit today. SmartSelectImage_2016-09-04-01-09-17.png
