Well in my case it was from a previous paint job where they had sandblasted a lot of stuff and did a bad job cleaning it up. That stuff will accumulate in all sorts of nooks and crannies.
-
Like Sublime said, could be coming in from when they painted it, coming in around the interior panels or the ceiling...could also possibly be a hole in your HVAC filter, and with the heat of summer the fan speed increases and it's blowing in from your hvac vents(the back bunk blower runs when you turn on the front a/c)...
Grubby, Lepton1 and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Next time you find the vac. at truck wash pull it in and vac top of bunk around seams of headliner lift open lower matt. an vac all around air/heat unit ?
-
Probably getting sucked up from floor and then blown out the vents. Keep the floor clean.
Grubby and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
You didn't state what you haul, or what kind of work you do with your truck. I haul frac sand. There's always sand dust everywhere no matter how much I try to keep my doors closed on location.
Do you run with the windows down much?Grubby, Lepton1, noluck and 1 other person Thank this. -
My slip seater runs the A/C all day, there's one stretch of road we're on that is dry dirt, makes a lot of dust. By my shift my hardhat has a bunch of dust in it & my ear plugs are usually filthy.
Our door seals also suck ###, but thats only a semi-related story.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
You state "bottom bunk" which means there's a "top" bunk. Right ? It's the top bunk mattress which is probably a piece of foam that is disintergrating as you travel down the highway and leaving "sand" on the bottom bunk.

Are you tracking it in there on your feet?
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
Are either of these you by chance?Grubby, Roberts450, RedRover and 3 others Thank this.
