I like to listen to Sirius Radio in my car. Do most company trucks come equipped with satellite radio or is this a personal purchase?

Most of the newer trucks have sirius/xm built into the radio but you'll have to subscribe and maybe purchase an antenna. I use a plug n play type receiver, it works great

Personal purchase, but I have seen a few companies that advertise xm-equipped trucks.

All of our company trucks have Sirius XM ready radios. I went the first 6 months without using it, now I can't believe I waited so long! So much good stuff!

Some newer trucks come equipped with Sirius/XM built in to the stereo and there is already an antenna for it built in so you would just have to subscribe to the service using the SID assigned (it will be on the display when you turn the stereo on).

However, having it being part of the built in stereo has it's advantages and disadvantages. For one, you don't have to buy a receiver and antenna and you'll have crystal clear reception. On the other hand, the stand alone receivers have the ability to pause a broadcast so if there's a program you're really into but have to step outside to fuel or check in, you can pause it and start it again when you get back into the truck. You also have the ability to save up to 20 songs and if you're bopping along down the road and one of your saved songs is about to be played on another channel, you'll be notified so you can just push a button and it will jump you over to that channel so you can hear it. The stand alone receiver will also give you sports score updates that you can set for your favorite teams so if a game is about to start, it will let you know and if you're not listening to the game it will pop up with a score update whenever a team in that game (home or away team) scores.

I bought my receiver back in 07 about 6 months after I started trucking and I absolutely love it...except when I'm going through tunnels and lose reception. :(

    Big_Trill and SGTSmokdU Thank this.
