WHY DID YOU SELL YOUR TRUCK TO LEASE AT SCHNEIDER ?
Thats the question I get asked the most and it really wasnt a hard decision to make. The reason I decided to pull the trigger is one word SECURITY ...
Owning a older model truck with NO WARRANTY is not quite as cool as it seems and can be very stressful. The requirement to have to run around with $20,000 in the bank at all times or close to it and at least $10,000 in avaliable credit draws a toll on you both mentally and physically. Knowing your one ROD THROUGH THE BLOCK from being done or out of business is not a chummy feeling to have . It becomes stressful and the ones that say that they dont stress are kidding you. You work hard to save up that $20,000 but in an instance it can be gone. Some will say thats the cost of business and it is to some degree but your truck savings can be gone quickly in the blink of an eye . A older truck can nickel and dime you to death no matter how well you maintain it. My decision to sell and move to lease was a calulated well timed decision .
HERES WHY ....
1. Betsy had built me a nice truck maint nest egg which I had no real trouble out of her nor did I expect to in the near future but the reality is she had 747,000 miles and not getting any younger .
2. I had EQUITY in the truck so by selling her via private sale I could CASH OUT at a very good time in the USED TRUCK MARKET and use the equity to my familes advantage.
By doing a ZERO DOWN LEASE i am able to take the truck equity and convert it into PERSONAL CASH FLOW instead of putting it down on another truck at a dealer. Secondly that EQUITY CASH FLOW can be used to pay down personal debt while not touchig the Maint account I have on hand . By paying down personal debt you can get your familes finances on solid ground or in some cases DEBT FREE while I will not be DEBT FREE I will elevate $975.00 in monthly personal debt leaving just the house and a modest car note to pay.
THIRD ..... and VERY IMPORTANT .... DEPRECIATION ...
A lease is much different than when you buy thus you have a more broad based write off for a term . Instead of just depreciating a $40,000 truck over 3yrs your tax incentives for leasing are more geared towards a legit write off thus saving on the nasty word PROFIT ... at the end of the year... PROFIT is not really a nasty word but in the TAX WAY OF THINKING its what you pay your taxes based upon. We all get CREATIVE but the need to " COOK THE BOOKS " is not needed as much when your expenditures for equipment upgrades are increased its called a CAPITAL EXPENDITURE and is needed to stay long term viable in this industry.
FORTH ... WARRANTY
This takes allot of stress out of the job when you know you have the stability of a warranty behind you. Do you know how much a 300 mile tow bill costs or a ROAD CALL ? 100'S and in some cases 1000's the question is how many 1000's can you absorb before you hit the RED ZONE... or DANGER ZONE when you know your next break down will be your last ( no money) or you have to ask the company your leased to for a BREAK DOWN LOAN... its not a good feeling , Ive been there not a cool feeling ... When you have a FACTORY WARRANTY you know you are backed . SNI gets good warranty specs and in some cases can get things covered outside the warranty period if you let SNI file it DIRECT TO THE VENDER... Yes you heard me right some parts can be warrantied outside the normal warranty period due to SNI's BULK purchases of trucks especially FREIGHTLINERS ....
So in short and not to write a 6 chapter book these are some of the reasons not all but some as to why I feel I made the right decision by choosing to lease a truck through SCHNEIDER FINANCE

I will touch base more tomorrow on some other questions I been getting asked and defend my stance further

You dont have to defend yourself brother anyone who is questioning you probably isn't in the business or they arent very experienced about finances in this business
