I've had a few OTR jobs in my life, but I will say that Schuster was one of the better ones. The biggest problem was the safety manager at that time, after his 3rd DWI, he couldn't drive anymore so they made him safety manager. I really think a lot of what happens there has to do with your dispatcher, I had a kid fresh out of college and he was awesome. I might still be there but I went out on medical for a triple by-pass and when I returned, said safety mgr. said I had to come back as a new hire, after an exchange of words ,I was sent home. I was home every weekend on time and any other time I wanted to be

 

wait why would they put someone who was drinking and driving in charge of safety? Are you sure it's not Swift your talking about?

 

Good question. I always hear decent things about Schuster but everyone always says beware of the safety guy.

 

I used to be in a RC airplane club. As with most clubs, there were officers: President, VP, Treasury, Scribe, and Safety.

We voted in new officers every year. We always elected the most unsafe person in the club to Safety Officer. Why? What better way to keep ‘em in line? Lol
