I have a Thermo King sb-190 30. Is there any way to set the high low temp on cycle/continuous. For instance, set at 55 come on at 50 and off at 60.
They wanted it on continuous 50-60 and I had on that till I looked at it and it was down to 45. I have no plans on keeping on continuous but being able to set the high/low would be great.
I looked through the manual but didn't find anything.

I think there is a way to modify this parameter but may require admin or authorized technician access. I think our Carriers will drop down to near 45 too [on 55 candy loads] and is not an issue running these types of loads over 4+ days on cycle.
The air temperature at the probe point may in fact change that much over a given time but the core product will still remain at "average set point". The higher the set point, the wider the allowed range by default. This is because most products that want higher temps (55) are generally not terribly temperature sensitive other then to protect from wide temperature swings such as down to 35 over 80. Chocolate, candy, and paints for instance.Last edited: Jan 5, 2017

It was just the broker that wanted it on continuous. Shipper said just keep it above 40 I asked him if it needed to be on continuous, said no. So I rolled with it.

Yeah, I heard the same thing from brokers...they'd almost always say to set it on continuous when the shipper/BOL said different. Go with what the shipper says and if there are any temp disparities, CYA and let the broker know.

Continuous is always the "safe choice" on anything other than frozen. And if a broker says (or "recommends") run continuous and shipper doesn't care and you run cycle, and at the end there is a rejection of some or all of the load, guess what. You, as the carrier, just bought some product and the cargo claim may get declined to boot. Whether or not the mode chosen was in fact part of the damage cause will be irrelevant at that point. They just want the means to shift the liability to the carrier.
