Yea...what he said!
I gave him crap before the sleep study visit to Crete...but the guy is a grown up with a family and with family comes personal issues that guide decisions....when he put his foot down on my borderline abuse(which I derserved)...it helped me to realize that, in my infinite (or infant) wisdom, without knowing what is going on at home...how on God's green earth can I point the finger of wrong doing. Only he knows what is best based on his personal business. And to judge without knowing that business is simply childish playground b.s. We can joke around about stuff, but in the end none of us really knows what is going on to guide his decisions...after all, unless you go to the beach to stroll across the lake (as in walk on water) none of us are perfect.
O.k., sermon is over, now fork over some dough as the collection plate passes by...![]()

I actually follow both XLS and Joseph 1135 on the board even though I don't post very much. I like both of you in different ways. You two should learn to get along or just ignore each other. My two cents on that. I'm a local driver but I do live my life through you otr guys. I started out otr back in the day and I do from time to time get that otr itch.
I actually did a short stint of 2 months otr this winter. It was an out and back type deal, burn up my 70 then do a 34 or longer at home. I actually had a job I was at for 9 years local but I was burned out and some other things I don't wish to put in the open anyways. So yeah in the past year I've had 3 different jobs technically. Two local and 1 otr. Some of the reasons are personal and some are professional differences you could say.
My point is that what works for some don't work for others. For example I don't get the whole daily average deal of XLS or the mad miles that Joseph runs. So can't we just all get along. OK that's all I've got for now. Take care guys. -
I pulled reefer for 3 years. It makes a world of difference how you run. Short haul reefer(600 miles or so) on a regular basis is a f n nightmare. Long haul reefer is much easier.

well, after a LOT of reading, i will be telling the lady that calls tomorrow that I want to stay dry van. thanks very much for your opinions and sharing numbers to xlsdraw and the multiple post that have helped me from frieghtwhipper. so does this mean they will put me with Crete? i applied to Shaffer and I was told I would get 2700 miles a week with either but 3000-3200 was possible with reefer, never said there would be a difference in company.

Crete took over Shaffer and then merged the two forever ago.
Go to Dry Van, it's just not worth it to pull a reefer there.
Even at .55 a mile with Shaffer I'd still think .45 with Crete would be better.
Shaffer is less miles, less drop and hook and more Northeast along with crazy appointment times.
Screw that -
my end goal is to end up at schneider choice where you are. ill be saving not spending over the next year+ .
any tips for preparing to go to choice?
