I don't come here often, but unfortunately often enough.
The dock thugs working at this dump on the North side of Miami think they have a lucrative little scam going on on how to make a quick buck. (or quick hundred bucks). Having dealt with the game long enough, whatever they're selling I ain't buying. I did witness an a green England driver fall for it, and for once in my life felt sorry for one of their drivers. I wish I would have had a chance to warn him, they've tried it with me a few times.
It usually happens on the weekend shifts, but they will try to scam outside carriers bringing in product into paying extra money to get their truck unloaded. There is at least one Cubano and several African Americans involved. At least one guy in the receiving office on weekends is in on it as well.
They will initially assign you a dock door, and give you the price that Sherwood normally charges to unload a truck. Rest assured, a few minutes after backing into a dock, you will get a phone call or knock on your door with one of the dock workers trying to tell you he will "cut you a deal" and get you out of there faster for a cheaper price. The England driver found out the hard way, the only "deal" you get cut is giving the dock worker cash with no receipt, and having to pay the office anyway.
Plan B for the Scam is for them to break and damage a few boxes on your truck, and then tell you if you just give them money they "look out for you" and will take the product so you wont get in trouble. If you refuse they reject it and throw it back on the truck.
Honestly it doesn't surprise me, Sherwood is legendary for treating their drivers and hourly employees terrible.
