Hey guys currently in the food service game been with my current company going on almost 10 years now, I’m in california and make about 120k a year doing 60 to 65 hours a week

looking to get out of food service, I know I’d have to start all over again from the bottom and take a pay cut, i really want to transfer to Utah or Colorado which I could with my company but id like better benefits (I’m in the only non union food service company)

I know the economy isn’t too good for trucking right now and I feel like it’s only going to get a lot worse so is it completely foolish? I have all my endorsements and have experience with hauling doubles with my current company

Couldn’t hurt to look into something. I know my company (Cross Country Freight Solutions) is needing people at all our barns in CO.

Google them and take a look.

That 10 year (almost) work history at 1 company is basically a free pass to get any job opening you want no matter how bad the economy is right now. As long as you also have a clean record your app will go to the top of the stack. I agree time to upgrade.

ODFL would pay about the same as you’re on now , with a whole lot less work. Over 80cpm solo.

LTL linehaul is generally pretty easy to get hired onto in Utah and Colorado. The lowest seniority drivers run the mountains, and that makes it a lot less appealing than linehaul in other areas.

My shall remain unnamed LTL is kinda rough at the moment. Lots of line guys running the TV remote, even bid guys. P&D guys working dock. Lowly newcomers like myself are being sent to other terminals to help there. Management looking for reasons to hand out paper on guys.

It's not as bad as it was allegedly but it's pretty slow. I'm allowed to run triples and there are many times I run a linehaul and I'm pulling a pup. I just last week had a first at my company, bobtailing to a terminal to bring back one loaded pup. Supposedly that's unheard of. And this is summer time when things are supposed to be moving good.

In my experience, that’s a sign of good management at the local level. They’re pulling together whatever scraps they can find to try to keep drivers working.
