Well here's the bad part about that. Cummins won't touch an altered engine.
There's two trucks that were sitting there that were basket cases. They have to be made fully compliant if they want Cummins to work on them. Now you're in the $15K to $18K neighborhood.
Just take it to Cummins when that shop is done fooling with it.
You're not the first one to get burned, and you won't be the last.
I had a guy try and wipe the dates off my filters once during a PM, rather than change them. Didn't even change the oil.
This is one of the most slimiest industries there is.Rideandrepair, shatteredsquare, BUMBACLADWAR and 4 others Thank this. -

Intake manifold air pressure sensor (gets covered with soot and cannot read, throwing all sorts of codes not allowing regens), egr differential pressure sensor (clean the mixing tubes as well this causes improper readings), exhaust back pressure sensor (this one goes in the 400k-600k range give or take, and causes improper readings), then you got the dpf differential pressure sensor on the dpf, and doc inlet sensor I believe, then whatever the def system has.
These sensors will cause improper readings and affect the way the system does passive and forced regens, allowing to much soot to build up or to much exhaust back in as clean air etc.
if you have a Cummins you should really join Rawze.com. This information I just gave you helped me tremendously early on. These sensors can be changed your self with hand tools. This is now known as the “egr tune up” Rawze’s YouTube page has a video on this I think. Ignore this if you want, it’s your choice. But since your new and your asking, here you go!Rideandrepair, Long FLD, shatteredsquare and 3 others Thank this.
