What's up my fellow truckers i need you guys help. I am currently a student driver at werner enterprise and this place is horrible i want to quit but im afraid they might mess up my DAC report. I got in an backing accident at a truck stop about a week ago i hit a guy bumper while my trainer was spotting me i did not receive a ticket. I just got out of a meeting with safety and they bumped my training hours from 270 to 316 and 45 days probation for my first a fence they say i didn't get out and look i told them my trainer was spotting me they did not care i think its time for me to leave this company should i leave now or should i finish up with training before jumping ship?
should i quit werner during training?

Quitting while still in training will not look good to any other perspective employer, my suggestion would be to finish your training with Werner, then after at least 6 months Solo, start to look for a better opportunity

either your gonna handle the pressure from the tight spots traffic, people, weather and such and get experience or your not.
if you dont hit any thing for a year and no police reports you get a lot of opportunitys -
Werner will put the incident on your DAC report, so be honest with your next company.
Which state do you live in?
I'll go against the flow here and say don't waste time there if you really don't like it. Apply for job with other companies then jump ship when you get an orientation date.
Put the "backing incident" on the job applications. It's an "incident", not an "accident." This way you don't have to worry about being sent home during orientation because they already know about it.Karl_marx, Big Papaxx, Wargames and 1 other person Thank this. -
You were driving (backing) you are responsible.Your spotter trainer or not never gets the blame.Dont give up so easy.Trucking is more than just driving.

NO! Stay at Werner! You'll be shooting yourself in the foot leaving this prematurely into your training. And with a preventable accident to boot. I trained with Werner too, and I'll agree, they are a subpar company. But I sucked it up for at least 6 months and found a much better opportunity. You need to do the same. Trust me.

I' ve got to go with the advice to stay. Staying for that first year is the best outcome. However if your unhappy it can effect your health and give you that I don't give a rats butt attitude about your job. If you develop this attitude your chances of problems triples. If you quit the world won't stop spinning and the birds won't stop singing. However you will have to start over from scratch. Most of the driver mill companies need warm bodies so bad you can count on at least one job offer. Just don't quit again. With your accident you don't need a DAC full of multiple jobs in a short period of time. Stay at Warner get that first year then move on. Its the best outcome for you right now.

Yep.. like Steven777 said... YOU were driving. You have the Con. Many times I've had people giving me hand signals and I'll pop the brakes and go look anyway.
You can NOT back blindly. A spotter is an assist. You still need to visualize tie situation for yourself.
Don't quit. Finish your training. Learn from it. Own it. You will smile about this 20 years from now.Cottonmouth85, bamamac and pattyj Thank this. -
It always amazes me that people actually sign on with the Werners of the world. Unless you're a rookie and absolutely nobody else would take you. Even then tough choice lol
