Should I stick to automatic or go to manual?

I love the conspiracy theory that automatic trucks were introduced because "kids these days and women" can't handle a manual. Out of all the things keeping people out of trucking, I guarantee learning to shift is nowhere near the top of the list.

When I was in school, the guys that daily drove a manual car had more trouble learning since they had synchronized habits lol.

 

Knowing how to shift and driving one is two different things.

it’s beneficial to know how to drive a manual. Makes you a jack of all trades. Now is it necessary to drive one to be cool?

That debate will never end.


so drive what you want but don’t get all mad if someone says something about what you drive that you don’t like. After all we are all grown up and our feelings shouldn’t get hurt.


I drive or try to drive a Freightliner I mean freightshaker. So what some on here talk down on my truck like it’s not a real truck. Hell FL drivers talk crap about Pete’s and Kenny’s.


So live with the fact that we will rib you when we get a chance and try to laugh.

CLUE (this industry is short.....really short..... on Rocket Surgeons! LOTS of Really Smart People, some Really DUMB people...... probably one of the most diverse and opinionated group of TYPE A personalities you will ever encounter in your lifetime! But the one thing they all have in common is......... YOU CAN TEACH THEM ALL TO SHIFT A EFFING 18 WHEELER. The vast majority of us know how....... we just DON'T HAVE TO!!

Traffic jams never bothered me, I just creep. It was the mountains that really had me hating my auto shift.
