I see a lot of people talking about how the same route would get boring. I've run the same route for going on four years, Dallas to Fargo and back. Only things that matter to me are money and time off. Both of those issues are more than satisfactory here.
I wouldn't stay out three weeks to see a road I haven't seen in awhile. The lure of the open road is long gone for me.tucker Thanks this. -
What do you do? One round trip a week? -
I just filled out the application,
Now I need to master the PreTrip in case they call.
I don't want to be caught off guard and be expected to know how to do a 108 point Pretrip without any practice. -
Yes with a four day work week comes a huge drawback....the winter weather! It gets pretty bad north of Kansas BUT they do take fairly good care of the roads. This will be my fourth winter running up there and acccording to the guy who unloads my trailer, a lifelong resident of Fargo, he says the last five winters have been very mild. As a Texan they have been BRUTAL!
Same run every week, 2,492 miles. Stones Truck Stop in Watertown has a decent restaurant and a sports bar upstairs. Very nice place IMO. I love the Coffee Cup Travel Centers. We buy our number 1 diesel fuel from them in the winter.tucker Thanks this. -
I get to go for a ride along next week, to see if I like it and for them to see if I'm a doofus.
I guess if the driver ok's me, then I got the job.
The main office is in Wisconsin about 500 some miles away and they rarely come down here.
They'll let me choose a shift, either 15:00 or 23:00.
250 miles out, load and come back and unload.
It's 5 days a week and every other weekend.
I think I'll maybe probably take the 23:00 shift. If??Cottonmouth85 and Dna Mach Thank this. -
