Company just installed sirrius/xm in all trucks, shop used a bird perch on passenger side with antenna that is a straight rod about 8" long, reception is great everywhere, love classic vinyl and mlb stations.

I've used this for years. Keep in mind I change trucks every week. Antenna is velcroed to a SS plate I welded onto a Wilson 18" shaft. If I wasn't retiring soon, I'd have to put some new velcro on it soon, but I think it will last the rest of this year.

Got to tell you guys, the op should have returned and at least ask follow up questions and answered the ones asked. Kind of reading all of this and looking at the void left by them - so much guessing.

I've been thinking the same thing. I've given up on SiriusXM. The dock connectors are flimsy and prone to breakage. I've spent hundreds of dollars on replacements that work for a bit then the radio shows that the antenna is disconnected or damaged. Change dock, antenna, and wire. Rinse and repeat a couple of months later.

I tucked the mushroom antenna in the front interior ceiling lining on the passengers's side, Thinking about moving it to driver's side as any tree along the road will temporarily cut signal. Gotta say Sirius has come a long way with good signals since 2005 when I started with them. Used to lose signal at every tree, bridge and building. Very frustrating. Now go under bridges and overpasses all the time without a break in the signal.

I thought about buying the mirror mount extra but just decided to wait and see how the one in the box worked. I have the same unit you do. I just stuck the one in the box on top of the mirror on passenger side and it works fine.

Which is why I'm going to hit the "unwatch thread" button right after this post.
