You can go to you own physician anytime you want. That's what I did, you will find out a general MD can't determine if someone has sleep apnea. They will refer you to a sleep doctor if you meet the general guide lines of being overweight or a big neck. That's the same thing a D.O.T physical doctor will do.

I already said here, I talked this matter over with my M.D. After asking me common sense questions regarding obvious potential signs of apnea, told me I don't have it, put it in my file as such.
He even went so far as to say most of this stuff being pushed by the DOT is a "bunch of bullspit." His words, not mineethos Thanks this. -
The doctor giving the D.O.T physical can just say I think you do have it because you meet his giudlines and the paper from you MD is useless. You or your doctor can't make the D.O.T doctor sign off on your medical card. Is that not correct ? So your paper from your doctor mean nothing unless he is giving you the D.O.T physical.
