I don't unhook my trailer except to grease it...

I don't see many slickdisks, are they trash or something else?

There ok if you don't unhook. Buy a few extra rings in case it falls off when you do unhook.

^^^^^What he said^^^^^. I am the same as you that I seldom drop my trailer. I dropped and hooked as careful as I could possibly be, but rarely could I do so without the lock ring being damaged. My fifth wheel sits on the ground so it isn’t an easy process to replace the ring and disk so I did away with it eventually. I do like the idea of the fifth wheel with the slip disk plate mounted to it instead. It looks like it would be better, but I haven’t any first hand knowledge of its actual operation.

My ring on mine broke a long time ago.
When I unhook I throw it on trailer, rehook ease under trailer a bit, put the disc back on kingpin, leaning on 5th wheel, and then reattach
