Dash cammer says trucker committed a 'smoke and run,' leading to multi-vehicle crash
Looks like the truck has a weed burner exhaust, possibly in HEST mode while driving.
Either way, the dashcammer didn’t reduce speed or maintain a space cushion!

he can always claim "it happened all of a sudden, so it must be the fault of the computer".... -
Dash cammer obviously driving too fast for conditions.

Just doin’ a California re-gen. As long as that truck has it’s clean idle sticker it is compliant and allowed to smoke and burn things down.
-
No such thing as a "smoke and run," but there are such things as "following too closely" and "too fast for conditions."
Good luck with your legal hail Mary. -
Wonder what his next career will be?
