Snackbar is chillin'....at Shaffer

It was that, or use hours I needed to deliver my next load on time(before payroll cutoff) to run 20 miles the wrong way to a Love's, or get turned around at the gate because the trailer I was bringing in to drop was under 3/4.

 

It was a -10 load and right as this heatwave started. It used a 1/4 tank between my last fuel stop and the next morning when I was headed to the delivery. Until the sun went down, it would run on high for 15-20 min, shut down for 10 then start again. This one I am on now is a -1 load and it's been going thru a little over 1/4 per day...but I have been in the upper 90's and low 100's with lows in the mid to upper 70's.

 

I'm really starting to miss open deck more and more.

 

It's not just that, the ######## the company dishes out makes those of us who do want to run take a step back and ask why? All it does is make the rich get richer and we get #### on, micromanaged and nannied. I can honestly see why drivers say #### it and just start dawdling around on loads.

 

I know I got 5 or 6 of those yellow Peoplenet screens yesterday about slowing down for an upcoming construction zone (some of which I was already sitting in the stopped traffic in the middle of the construction it was warning me about)... that's as much of a driver distraction as getting a txt message pop up on my phone, in my opinion. And a DOT cop would darn sure write you a citation if they caught it doing that. Why is it ok for the company to set the system up to do that, but nanny us about phone usage.
