Finally spoke to the Ops manager. We had a lengthy discussion about what is going on with the company and why they're getting so anxious about OTD's. A lot of our recent contract customers are now requiring we are on time 98% of the time, and if we aren't, they ship with a cheaper carrier and we can lose a lot of freight lanes if they aren't careful. He also said that the phone calls are done with Crete drivers as well, so changing over won't prevent them. He also said that the Crete side is going to be 100% verbal dispatch soon, so the auto dispatch after you send in your empty call will be going away. There was a lot of other stuff we discussed, but bottom line, there are as many issues I would have to tolerate on the dry side that it made me reconsider switching over. Better the devil you know, so my switching is on hold for now.(Honestly, I am hoping that after New Years that a Brakebush driver or two retires and I can just drop Creaffer's truck in Deland and go to better).

Already have a preplan. After I deliver in the morning I am heading for the King's Hawaiian in Flowery Branch GA and pick up a load going to Allentown for any time Monday. Will put me right at 1800 by then with hours to run. Never picked up there...maybe they'll have some scratch and dent packages of dinner rolls for the drivers...

 

I wonder if this will make any difference...this is the message I sent before I head to bed

 

The other night was my first, but I am delivering to the same customer as I was the other night, only to a different location. Since overnights felt compelled to call me then, I am just trying to reduce the chances of a repeat occurrence. That, and my phone is going into airplane mode in case they fail to read the load notes again and try to call, it'll go straight to v-mail and I won't get a notification of a v-mail message until I turn it off when I am about to pull out.
