I don't care if they pay me $.10/mi for recruiting...I don't recruit. I use this forum to lay out the good, bad and ugly and a person can choose to work here or not based on what I post...and right now, I am willing to bet, a lot of people might choose the 'not' the way things are going.

Exactly right. I post what “I” do, along with the good, bad and whatever adjective you want to add in. I’ve seen time and time again new drivers come along and find out real quick the garbage that is thrown at us and quit. I’ve even had a new driver ask me if we sleep in the trucks every night. I love what I do, even after 40 years, but boy do I despise what this industry has turned into. I even ask myself who in their right mind would want to do this job.

I was wondering what they were thinking when I was sent a preplan for N. Platte last weekend. Turns out, the hometime request I sent in for this weekend never got set right (my regular asset manager was out to lunch, literally, not figuratively) when I sent it in, so his back-up said he set it, but it wasn't set. I even got the RDO extention request earlier this week(if you don't reply with a number, it is suppose to get you home within xx number of days)..I didn't reply. When I asked my A/M this afternoon if there was a plan in the works for getting me home Sunday...I get an immediate call from him..."you wanted home this weekend?". That's what I requested more than a week ago...and proceeded to tell him that with all the problem loads, problem equipment, and problem customers I have had the last month or two, I am at the end of my rope, and the knot is coming untied. I told him that I have seen my house for 1 34 hr break since mid-February and when I say I am in a perpetual pissed off mood 24/7...I am not just blowing off steam...and told him that I am seriously considering asking Deland if we are allowed to transfer to Hunt without quitting and being re-hired over there so I can get away from this 3 ring circus but still keep my insurance...he was shocked that I was considering making a move away from Shaffer.

I hardly see hunt drivers and the only time I do is when they dropping or picking up at a terminal. I believe they all stay in a localized area. Back when I first joined crete I looked at the pay for all 3 and it seems at least per mile Crete/Hunt are paid the same with Shaffer getting the most pay per mile. Of course hunt pay on-site did not list any item pay like tarp pay or oversize pay. They probably do have it tho.

Also it seems they finally going to pay us $25 for hazmat loads but an extra $25 might still not be enough for the extra headache involved but it's better than nothing.

And now the comfort mode of the opti-idle refuses to restart 100% of the time, and it was warm enough outside that it should have worked. I spent all last night getting 1 1/2 hour naps because that's all it takes to get it so hot in the truck without a/c to wake me up. I would have opened vents, but I had a Magnum on one side with their APU running, and a truck with cab mounted stacks aimed off to the side on the other. Only way I can get comfort mode to work is cycle the key. It cools down once, shuts off, then never restarts. I even tried turning off the main power for 30 sec to reboot the ecm, but I don't think the engine ecm is even powered thru that switch, because it didn't help. If I had a decent saw I could cut off my wally-world cheap broom and wedge it between the seat and throttle, and just idle it all night..
