I was in Mcdonough. It ended up being just shy of midnight before they got me done. I managed to make Tifton before I had to lay down. Told dispatch last night before leaving shipper, no way I'll be able to make delivery anywhere on time...Tuesday would be ok as long as I am home by Tuesday later afternoon. They said to get with my A/M in the morning.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

It usually is a drop/hook, at both locations. Maybe they had to pull some of our drop trailers out of there because they have so much freight to move. I have had several loads lately that were supposed to be drop/hook but ended up being a live load/unload because of a lack of equipment. That's the one down side of being this busy I guess. The lady apologized many times, but it's just one of those things, mechanical problems are mechanical problems...I mean, stuff wears out and breaks down no matter how good it's made. I just hope they can get a Tuesday appointment, otherwise they'll have to set up a t-call. I got some sleep in Tifton, but I am waiting a little bit for my A/M to get in to see if they can get it set for Tuesday, or if they want me to t-call here instead of Deland. It might be easier to get someone out of this area rather than Deland to deliver if Tuesday isn't an option.

Rant time....(and it has nothing to do with the company for once)

What is it with drivers fascination with super tall stick shift shifters? I just saw a Landstar that started to turn to do a pull thru on the front row at the Love's here in Tifton, but didn't set up right (sorta noticed it was a spot that he could pull thru, a little too late). So, he did the smart thing and aborted, but had back up a bit to go on by...I noticed him when he was putting it back in gear to go forward again, and his shifter was so tall, he would almost hit his hand on the CB (in an older Cascadia)...do people really think they look cool with shifters that big? Sorta like a truckers version of ape hanger handlebars on choppers from the 70's...(or maybe they are former hippie chopper riders that had to get a job driving a truck). Personally, I think it looks stupid.

I heard once that it makes shifting easier somehow not quite sure how it would do that though

More leverage to push it in when the speed is out of sync.

Phew, glad you clarified that, all these years I was under the assumption it was little dick syndrome.

I got a surprise when I put in for what I thought was my only week of paid vacation. My A/M said I had 15 days to use...I think there is a glitch in the system...when I called Deland to check on the detention pay I am missing, I asked. She said, being gone as long as I was, it should've reset back to 'new hire' levels, which is what I thought as well. But it would appear that the system is treating it as a recent rehire level. I was just shy of 10 years with Crete when I left, which would have been 3 weeks (which would be 15 days because they consider 5 days a work week here). I could've been a 'Richard' and not said anything...but that isn't my way...I'll take the days if they're being generous and are legit, but if they're not legit, it's only fair to bring this to their attention and get it fixed.
