Ran into an idiot 4wheeler in Utah last night.

Don't know what the local laws are but it couldn't of been what this driver was doing.

On a 2 lane us highway, crest over a hill fully loaded and saw a car come to a complete stop on the road! Had to slam on my breaks to avoid rear ending him. In the opposite lane a cop had pulled over someone and 4wheeler decided to slow to a stall and look. Driver pulls away and 2+ miles later another cop starts rushing over with his lights on to meet other cop, and driver again, moves slightly over and comes to a compete stop, with me almost rear ending. At next passing lane person slowed down to let me go around so they at least did some good.

However never have I ever heard of someone having to come to a complete stop on 2 lane roads when emergency vehicles are present. If one is coming up behind I do move over as much as I can and slow down so they can go around but coming to a complete stop, and on 2 lane back road with no shoulders?! Only in cities with multiple lanes have I've seen such.

The only time I would pull off and stop is if the oncoming traffic was blocking an emergency vehicle from getting by and they needed as much of the road as possible to get by. If it's just them on that side of the road, I just roll...unless there are people behind me that keep peeking to see if they can pass, then I might edge on the shoulder a bit to allow them to see the oncomming lights.

Down south(at least in FL), it's a different story...for an oncomming funeral procession, you are supoosed to pull over and stop until the funeral procession passes completely.

Well, I didn't quite make 130k miles by my 1 yr anniversary. I ended up with 129,100. The way I started out, I figured 135k was about where I was gonna end up, but it fizzed out(if you consider 129k fizziling out)

In Utah a driver is required to pull as far right and stop until an approaching emergency vehicle passes. It could be interpreted to include oncoming emergency vehicles on 2 lane roadways. As for stopping for the stopped police vehicle, maybe they were unsure if it was stopped so they slowed way down in preparation to stop if necessary.

They must REALLY love keeping me out West. When I finish with this load I go on hometime for 3 days and the load out of the house is...

A beer load with 3 stops out west. 1 in Wyoming with 2 in Utah.
