I have a regular delivery in Hillsborough Twp… such a beautiful area…. I was there the night that hurricane blew through a couple months ago and every road was flooded….

I am having a hard time keeping her from overdoing things when it's not hurting bad, then spending hours trying to comfort her when it's starts hurting bad. We have a cool cube ice pack system they sent her home from the hospital with. Basically a cooler with a water pump in the lid that is hooked to a big ice pack that you velcro around her knee. Then put some water and ice in it and it continuously pumps ice water thru the pack for 4-5 hours. The nurse suggested freezing water bottles instead of using ice because it's easier to change when they thaw...

She has gone from pain meds every 4-5 hours to one in the morning and one in the evening. The therapist says her range of motion is right at 90° already and say that she is doing better than expected this early, which only encourages her to keep overdoing it...then suffering at night.

Sounds very familiar! That water bottle trick is handy if your not yet doing it. My Moms doctor basically said if it hurts after laying around a lot then get up and walk. If you walk to much and it hurts to lay down and rest it! It actually seemed to make a lot of sense as too much of one or the other causes pain.

Hopefully you guys don’t have any stairs to contend with. That seemed to be the hardest for her. That’s good news getting off the pain meds but I had to always remind my Mom who hates pain meds... to take enough that you can fully do the therapy.

We had some wild Weather this Summer between the Remnants of the Tropical Storms and Tornados

Ur probably referring to the visit we received from Ida in early September which caused a lot of Water Damage along with the Tornados

Yes… I was parked in Hillsborough Twp when it blew over. With all the tornado warnings, I got up and put my cloths back on. I didn’t want to be found in some nearby tree in my underwear ;-)
I had to go to Melville NY the next day and it took 5 hrs to go the 90 miles…

We have 3 steps up to the house, and a full size Ram 1500. The toughest thing she has to remember is which leg to use going up or down. I keep reminding her, good leg 1st going up, bad leg 1st going down...act like you can't flex the bad knee when you have to use steps. A lot of what they have told her about getting in and out of bed or sitting down are things I use to do when my gout would flair up under my knee caps...so it's 2nd nature for me. Her pain seems to be the typical 'right before bed'.
