They had me pick up a specific trailer out of the Target DC in Lake City, FL. All the years I have lived in that area, it's the 1st time I have ever been to that DC. The trailer was a disaster inside. I thought Walmart DC's had the corner on the pallet crushing award...this place topped my nastiest Walmart trailer, hand down. It also had a bunch of, what looked like, melted Jolly Rancher candies. And, of course, no washout within a reasonable drive to my pickup location, so I had to do the jugs of water washout and 2 Walmart bags of pallet scraps. I guess my clean up effort was acceptable because they didn't hesitate loading me. Got the load picked up, but this trailer lost a left rear marker light enroute, and it's a weird plug/socket type that I hadn't seen. But, there was a 2nd set of wires under there not being used. Unfortunately, the only spare light I could only find was a clear tag light I use as a test light. But, I found a red-ish colored package with nuts and bolts, so I made a temporary red light out of package and the tag light, and it worked until I could get a proper repair done. My load delivers Wed evening(live unload). Haven't found out where I am headed from there, but it feels good to be back on the road. I loved being home helping my wife, but it made me realize how easy I have it out here...doing all the stuff she does (not counting her Farmer's Market job) shows me how hard she works...and she works too hard!!!!!

I’ve been off getting my truck ready to hit the road. Our 1.5 year old is on his third consecutive double ear infection so he has missed a lot of daycare. So I have been Mr Mom. I have found a new respect for my girl and her mother. This isn’t easy at all.

Doing another shorty. After I delivered at Wally in Pageland last night, I pick up in Orangeburg that drops in Raeford, NC anytime. Then my next load picks up at the same location in Raeford going to Edwardsville for Saturday. Not the best week this week, but they got me enough miles coming out of the house to pay for my insurance, taxes, put my normal amount on my prepaid for groceries next week, and put enough money in my wife's account for gas and a couple dinners at our local 'cool kids' restaurant/clubhouse.

I managed to get the last parking spot at the Love's on 20, east of Columbia. Sometime after I parked, another spot opened up on the other side of my driver's side neighbor. I was almost asleep when I heard this loud crunnnnnnch bang, and then beeeeeeeeeeeep. I peep out the windowshade and see that someone decided to modify the drivers side of my neighbor's truck with a loooooong door hinge scrape/crease from the front corner of the sleeper all the way to the cab extender/fairing...and then rip the fairing itself off his truck...not a good night for both of them.

I had that happen to me back in August. Asked the guy why he didn’t get out and look. He said he did . Told him if he had, he wouldn’t have hit me. Screwed up my work life for about 2 months.

At least he did not just leave. Not much damage on his side.
