Believe it or not, we still have mostly spring ride, spring assist manual handle release trailers over here. The Shaffer side has some air ride with air release but I think the Crete fleet is all spring ride with the manual pull handle. And we still don't have the trailer brake handle on any of our trucks.

On a positive note, my new truck has an inside king pin release on the dash. No more bending over to pull out fifth wheel bars.
Used it yesterday when I swapped loads.
    I like it!

Or right shoulder grease marks on every shirt, coat or any other clothing apparel one owns.

The release mechanism won't engage unless the brakes are set, and you have to hold the button for 3 seconds.

Frankly, I'd rather pull the thing myself. It's a pain when the weather's cold, or if the ground isn't level, etc.

650cat425, JohnBoy and Dale thompson Thank this.

I was wondering how sluggish it would get when the temps dip near 0, especially after a few years on the truck.

I had one on the last truck I owned, it didn't work. I took the air line off the cylinder and had air pressure, but the cylinder was frozen. So, I used the air line hooked to a junk yard overflow tank to wash windshields of idiots that chose to drag race with you after you were courteous enough to move over to let them on the interstate.

Feeling like a real slacker this week. Last week, 4 days in a row I was between 640-680 miles. This week, mid-to-upper 500's per day....yawwwwwwwn. The only excitement I get is screwing with my truck's E-coast....it starts to switch...I hit the gas and it falls back in gear...a few seconds later, it starts to switch, I hit the gas. It might not piss the computer off as much as it pisses me off with it's erroneous sound effects....but it makes me feel like I have done what I can to annoy it. Even if it's only the equivalent to an 'oh yeah', or 'sez you'...it still makes me feel a little better

How long would you have to wait to get a manual transmission truck?
