After seeing this...I'm not gonna complain about the winds I've been seeing. Compared to this video, I've been experiencing a light breeze

I wonder how Crete would be if I got my own tax ID number for labor on equipment repairs. T/A charges north $75/hr. Road service places charge more. Having a mudflap replaced or a marker lights replaced costs a bundle if a shop does it...I could do it for a flat rate for under an hour repairs, or $30/hr over an hour repairs...and give them a legitimate, tax deductible receipt. Service call to prime a reefer that was left running at a customer and ran out of fuel $50. Again legitimate, 100% legal...I mean, why not get paid for simple repairs, and save the company a few bucks over a shop doing it.

Some companies will pay for a driver to do repairs. When I was with Prime I was paid around $15 to replace a trailer mudflap, about $25 to repair a trailer marker light. Nothing earth shattering paywise but nice to put toward a good sit down meal once in a while

I’ve always thought they should train, and certify some drivers to do T-1’s.
I went to a TA for one,and they told Crete that all the brakes and drums were bad,and replaced them.
Before I left I saw the old ones, and they were finedwells40 and Speed_Drums Thank this. -

When I was fleeced by Prime, part of the orientation was a brake adjustment certification class, so a lawyer wouldn't have a case if there was an accident because a driver adjusted their own brakes. I don't see why a person couldn't learn to do simple fixes... especially as backed up as most shops are for simple stuff. It would benefit the driver as much as the company just in time saved waiting to get in a repair bay.
