I think someone left the handle out and someone backed in to it too close.

But were you located at customers we both deliver and pick up from that had loads ready? I can see deadheading from a receiver to a shipper, but leaving one shipper to pick up at another with loads ready to move and a driver with hours to run and days of advanced notice of their PTA is just totally piss poor planning and more wasteful than anything we do out here.

    JoeyJunk Thanks this.

    Yes and no.

They may have another driver coming in to deliver and already assigned the outbound load. Perhaps the other driver needs to go in the direction of the load. Maybe the load would cause you to be unproductive. Maybe...

My point is that without seeing the trucks and loads that the planners have available to them, you are not getting a complete picture sufficient to make an informed judgement.

Do they hire remote Driver Managers or planners? I'd like to organize the loads for SSB. ;)

I would believe that, but there were a bunch of loads available and they knew on Friday when I was gonna be there and they don't think and plan that far ahead. Plus, several drivers brought in empty trailers there, which means they were deadheaded in. Also, the place I am delivering tomorrow only has one load in and one load out. And what is more unproductive than deadheading me 75 miles to pick up a 300 mile run. The only reason I didn't reject it for being unproductive was because I expected the 2000 mile load that always follows the delivery to this location.

    JoeyJunk and nredfor88 Thank this.

You could just move on to a another wonderful mega and have the same issues but a different colored truck.
