I have a friend who is an Independent Contractor at a Union Shop at an airport .
He got in trouble for pulling a part off a shelf. They told him someone gets paid to do that job.
The union hires someone to put the part on the shelf, and the union pays someone to take the part from the shelf.

I worked in a car audio shop while in college. Heaven help the tech that just grabbed parts from the stock room, because the owner wouldn't. Most car dealerships are the same - union or not. It's about inventory management.

People love to bring up the unions in McCormick Center being required to plug in any electric device. What they fail to mention (or possibly realize) is while their 15 watt display case isn't going to overload the circuit or otherwise burn down the place, the booth down the way is trying to daisy chain power strips together and is about to blow the power to the whole floor.

That's what a union is, workers banding together. A lot of union protection has been gutted since Reagan, that's why they don't seem effective now. Go back to like the 50s though they were a big reason someone working a factory job was able to single handedly provide for their family, have a decent house, car, etc.

Some of them would complain if the car companies pooped them a solid gold turd because the didn't have it delivered, gift wrapped with a silk bow on a solid silver platter.

It's a 25%increase over 4 years. Some of that is just recovering what they gave up in 08/09. Your comment is why I'm not holding my breath on anything. Too many bought the anti union propaganda. Idk how often you come on complaining about something or other. You want to keep taking the abuse fine, just funny calling people actually doing something crybabies lol. As for not keeping blue collar jobs, that's not really the unions fault. That's where the government should tax the hell out of these companies that take their labor and production overseas and tariff the products. Make it HURT to do that stuff. Funny too how the only real complaint I see about unions is "me or someone I knew had a good job until the place closed" so you admit union jobs are good, but somehow blame something out of their control on them. If you quit, the union isn't going to do anything for you either.

You need to check the numbers. The U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world...my father-in-law and my wife's brother-in-law worked for a tire company in Akron, OH. They closed their department and much of the tire production facilities down and moved some overseas and others to less costly areas because - drum roll please- high labor costs and high corporate taxes. And you know what the union did...not a #### thing. A friend worked for the city of Akron, and was a union member...his entire department was terminated unjustly...but the union did NOTHING! Both of these unions collected union dues for decades and did absolutely no good. Unions are nothing but legal mafias, only instead of breaking knees if the people don't pay for their "protection", they break the bank accounts of their membership and the bank accounts of the corporations. And do any of the union leadership take any kind of a pay hit when they call for a strike? Hell no, they take their money and run.
