People love to bring up the unions in McCormick Center being required to plug in any electric device. What they fail to mention (or possibly realize) is while their 15 watt display case isn't going to overload the circuit or otherwise burn down the place, the booth down the way is trying to daisy chain power strips together and is about to blow the power to the whole floor.[/QUOTE]
so why does it also take a supervisor to watch the electrician plug in the cord? And if I remember right it was either a one hour or half hour minimum for each. Luckily the 2 organizations where I exhibit during their tradeshows refuse to ever go back to Chicage.

How do US corporate income tax rates and revenues compare with other countries’?
At one point you might have been correct, but not for many years.

It's not. But nice try. It may be kinda high but the loopholes are so big that they end up getting millions, if not billions paid back. You and I pay more in taxes than some of these corporations. Again what were the unions supposed to do? Kinda hard to prevent job loss when the place is closing. You have more in common with me or any other driver on here or any truck stop you've ever parked at or company you've worked for than you ever will with your company's ceo or owner much less someone like bezos or musk.

Did you actually read my comment? I literally asked how that's the unions fault. Are unions perfect? Hell no, but a large part of that is how gutted they've become. The last ceo yrc had was specifically brought in to basically do what happened. They were always going to close.

I'd like to point out airline pilots are unionized, flight attendants are, actually pretty much the entire aviation industry is, doctors and nurses are, teachers are etc. It's not just blue collar workers. The saying "we're our own worst enemy" is very apt for this, it's not just drivers throwing piss bottles and trash in a Walmart parking lot. There's a lot of problems in this industry that unionization won't fix. They can't make more parking or freight magically appear for example. I'm not going to overcome the billions and decades of anti union propaganda that's been pumped out though so I'll get off my soap box now.

That’s what you insinuated..

The UAW is a whole different ball of wax from trade unions. If you want to lump unions together and cite what the UAW has done / is doing, it shows how little you know about unions.

You missed the part where I said I had family who were members of the URW, and a friend who worked for the city of Akron who was a member of a union (not sure which acronym). All were not helped when it came time for the union to back them...
Also, when I moved to FL, the local phosphate processing plant was represented by a union...and the majority of employees were laid off right before the plant was shut down then sold by the parent company...and none of the employees were backed by the union.
I know plenty about unions, and all of it is bad news where the union members paid dues and got screwed from both the employers AND the unions.Woobie Thanks this.
