    .69 x 2000 miles= $1380
    $1380 divided by 40 (hours) is a $34.50/hour job.
That’s the way I look at it.

    Lamborghini Owner Op Thanks this.

That is exactly how I look at it too. Even though we work a lot more hours than 40, the end result at the end of a week is a decent paycheck.

Lamborghini Owner Op and O.Henry Thank this.

$1380, a decent paycheck? Maybe for a driver fresh out of driving school but for an experienced driver, that's insulting.

You can look at it that way, though I think starting pay for otr should be at least $100k/yr, but whatever. Or you can look at it as not having a degree, no rent/mortgage, no wife or kids to take care of. This really shouldn't be a job to pay other people with but eh it is what it is. I hate this ####ing job for so many reasons, about the only "good" thing is even on bad weeks I don't have to worry about going hungry.

The definition of decent pay to one person certainly varies to the next person. Factors like where one lives or their personal expenses could change one’s definition of “decent” pay. I know that I couldn’t make more money doing something else that I enjoy as much as driving a truck but to each their own.

Yup, and certainly things should be flat pay drop n hook (15 to 35 each time), fueling, hourly for waiting at the required washout out spots, etc... labor shouldn't be free and cpm is for safe, responsible professional driving and otr is a sacrifice we work over 70/week when u factor in all the administrative work we do yea that's labor we're not hourly or salaried and no one talks about inflation...
