I got loaded fairly quickly this afternoon. Headed back to the same Love's I spent the night at to scale. Just as I round the corner to swing into the scale lane, the Love's service truck and their wore out trailer jumps in front of me just at the scale platform and Larry, Darrell and Darrell jump out and begin swapping empty trash cans for loaded ones, and proceed to joke around and take their sweet time. Then they pull to the other end of the scale and do the very same thing with the trash cans at the other end. Now, don't get me wrong, the trash cans were overflowing and needed to be dumped, but do we have to block the whole lane with a pickup. Got scaled, and rolled out. About the time I hit the interstate I get a call from my travel agent asking for some help. There was a loaded trailer at the drop yard about to run out of fuel, and he offered me $50 to run back and fuel it up. Since I have time on these loads, I accepted his offer. When I got to the yard and dropped my trailer, I did a quick once over on the other trailer, just to cover my arse. It was a -20 load, and this is what I found
A loaded running trailer, and no seal. I opened the door to see if it was really loaded and this is what I saw
The entire load was shifted and leaning forward. I proceeded to call Lincoln and talked to Risk Management. Turns out that the customer refused the load, so it is scheduled to be reworked on Wednesday, but they needed someone to fill the reefer tank up so that it make it until then. Would have been nice to know that up front. Had I just hooked to it and hauled arse, it could have further damaged the load. Instead, I babied it down to the Pilot down the street and put 40 gal in it and brought it back. Plus I took before and after pictures just to prove I didn't do any more damage.
And for anyone in the Jacksonville area, there will be a Blue Beacon opening soon at the Pritchard St exit on the opposite side of the interstate from the Peelot. The building is up, they're just needing to lay down the driveway pavement. A truckwash/washout is something desperately needed in that area.kylefitzy, Lonesome, hotrod1653 and 7 others Thank this. -
